Our Company History
1980 – 2010 From humble beginnings……….
The Company was formed in February 1980. Being employed within the Freight Industry sector, the Co-founders identified an opportunity to offer airline agents a much needed courier service delivering & collecting to/from their clients in and around Birmingham Airport. They purchased a second hand Ford Cortina Estate as their first vehicle – Contact Transport was born.
The company built steadily during the eighties working out of a small depot and offices based near to Birmingham Cargo Airport. The small courier operation developed into larger vehicles and soon we were trunking nightly artics between Birmingham and Heathrow Airports. Continuing development throughout the nineties meant a move to larger premises, with a greater mix of business including general transport, contract hire, and parcels but still mainly with the larger freight forwarders.
The last decade has seen considerable growth with the company now offering a vast portfolio of services to several industry sectors. Now operating almost 300 vehicles nationally, and employing over 300 staff, we are proud of our development & achievements over the past 30 years. We are committed to ensuring we continue to provide ALL our clients the best attainable service and fully recognise our continued success & development cannot be achieved without the support of our Customers, Staff & valued suppliers.
